About The Author

Michael Hilliard

Michael Hilliard has been writing since he was five, when his mom found him with an open encyclopedia, writing a book (with pictures) about birds. Scores of others followed, and eventually matured into several notebooks worth of short stories. He created handmade cards for special occasions, branded Hillmark, and penned an annual holiday family newsletter. This humorous and over-the-top spoof about the Hilliard family was a consistent tradition over sixteen years, and even drew personal interest from Oprah Winfrey.

Michael published his first novel, The Last Patriot in 2005. His second novel, The Island Hopper, gained the attention of James Patterson, and Michael was in the top ten out of 8,000+ submissions for Mr. Patterson’s national co-author contest. Michael’s third novel, No Safe Place was published in 2022, and completes a loose trilogy seventeen years in the making.

Michael was born in Chicago, is a life-long NFL Bears fan, and moved near Annapolis, Maryland when twelve. Highly competitive, he played sports through high school, while writing continued to offer a creative outlet. He graduated from the University of Maryland and has been an independent financial advisor for almost thirty years.

He and his wife Kimberly have three children and enjoy boating, traveling, and being very active in the community.
